New York Toy Fair 2019

So last week saw some amazing figure reveals at the New York Toy Fair. Having been to the rather underwhelming London Toy Fair only last month it does beg the question why they don’t move the London event to after New York so we can actually get eyes on these new ranges without having to fly to New York to do so. Anyway enough of that, let’s get down to the serious business of what our highlights were.

Mezco’s ever increasing and popular One12 range had some exciting additions with confirmation of Hellboy, Pennywise, 1989 Batman, Moonknight and Gambit, a Spider-man Homecoming and the amazing looking, if slightly delayed Blade! ¬†They have two big sets, a four pack of the cult movie classic The Warriors and a five pack of the Ghostbusters and Slimer.

Super 7, who brought us the wonderful re-release Masters of the Universe figures showed off some lovely new bits. These included the MOTU movie figures featuring Dolph Lungren in the Classics range and something that got me frothing at the pants was the Reaction They Live figures, they shall be mine!

Speaking of They Live, Neca have a clothed twin pack of two of the movies aliens listed as due for a release date of Q3 2019. Neca are one of our favourite figure makers and the quality of their figures just keeps on improving. Case in point is the quite amazing Bob Ross figure, complete with afro, paint brush and easel. Add to that the Goonies twin pack featuring Chunk and Sloth, again slated for a Q3 release. And the awesomeness doesn’t stop there with a full range of Karate Kid figures, with a triple pack featuring Mr Miyagi with Bonzai tree and chop sticks, Daniel LaRusso in Training and Johnny in his skeleton outfit and the simply wonderful Tournament twin pack that has Daniel and Johnny in their gear from the films climatic scene and features a floor mat and replica of the trophy too. And that isn’t even scratching the surface, there’s new Alien figures, new Gremlins, new horror, Pans Labyrinth, Godzilla, TMNT, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro… The list goes on!

The much improved Hasbro showed off their Marvel Legends range featuring a range of two Pack’s, from Thor Ragnarok there’s Korg & the Grandmaster and Scourge & Hela. There’s a classic Hulk and Wolverine in one and an Iron Man and Iron Spider in the other. From Ant-Man comes the Luis and Ghost Two Pack, and from the First Avenger, Captain America and Agent Peggy Carter. Finally there’s a¬†Colossus & Juggernaut. Also from Hasbro was the announcement of a Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Transformer to coincide with the comic Crossover event coming later in the year. This got a couple of people we know very excited! There were some Star Wars bits, including a whole range of great looking Black Series figures, Including Chopper and Ezra from Rebels and Doctor Aphra. There’s Jabba’s Palace and Skiff Barge play sets on the horizon too.

Kotobukiya showed off some nice DC statues including a gorgeous Catwoman, a new Joker and Posion Ivy. On the Marvel side of things, theres a cracking series featuring Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and Hulk. There’s also a brilliant looking Domino that was shown off unpainted!

Hot Toys showed off a couple of new Luke Skywalker’s, and incredible looking Battle Angel Alita, a Punisher War Machine, and two figures with absolutely stunning sculpts, Director Orson Krennic and Killmonger, both of which would grace any collection.

Storm Collectibles showed off some great looking figures with a King Of Fighter range to go with their expanding Street Fighter range which now boasts a brilliant looking Sagat, M-Bison and Guile. Mortal Kombat also now swells their ranks. They also previewed brilliant DC figures featuring Bane, Darkseid and Lobo.

Some big announcements came from McFarlane who recently signed a deal to produce DC Comics figures. They showed off their expanded range of the hugely popular Fortnite series as well as some more Five Nights At Freddy’s figures. They also had some new Anime figures including a good looking One Punch Man, Naruto and My Hero Academia. There was the usual Game of Thrones stuff and a rather excellent looking Goblin King from Labyrinth.

All in all there was a huge amount revealed. Check out our collection of images below! Note All images are copyright of their respective owners!
